ScanIQ is a QR code and barcode scanner and generator app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains clearly what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it.

Data We Collect

Data Stored Only On Your Device

The following data is created by you and stored only on your device. We never see it, access it, or upload it to any server:

Scan history — barcodes and QR codes you have scanned
Generated QR codes — QR codes you have created
App settings — your theme, sound, and haptic preferences

You can delete all of this at any time from Settings → Clear Scan History or Clear Product Cache.

Data Sent to Third Parties

When you scan a product barcode (EAN-13, UPC, etc.) and tap “Lookup Product”, the barcode number is sent to:

Open Food Facts (https://world.openfoodfacts.org)

This is a free, open-source food product database.

Only the barcode number is sent — nothing else
No personal information is attached to this request

Permissions We Request

Camera	To scan QR codes and barcodes
Internet	To look up product information from Open Food Facts
Vibrate	To give haptic feedback when a scan is detected
Storage (Android 9 and below)	To save generated QR code images to your gallery
Read Media Images (Android 13+)	To save generated QR code images to your gallery

We do not use any permission for tracking, advertising, or data collection.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We want to be fully transparent. ScanIQ does not collect:

Your name, email, or any account information
Your location
Your device ID or advertising ID
Any analytics or crash reports
Any usage statistics
Any data for advertising purposes

Third Party Services

ScanIQ uses the following third party services:

Open Food Facts

Purpose: Product barcode lookup
What is sent: Barcode number only
Their privacy policy: https://world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy

No other third party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising networks are used in this app.

Data Security

All data stored by ScanIQ lives in your device’s private app storage. It is not included in cloud backups (Google Drive backup). It is only transferred to a new device if you use Android’s device-to-device transfer feature.

Children’s Privacy

ScanIQ does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. The app contains no features that target children specifically.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since we store no personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete or export on request. All your data is on your own device and fully under your control. You can delete everything by uninstalling the app.
